Wonders never cease

I found this incredible place in the middle of Reykjavik yesterday. There is a walkway on one side of the busiest street in town. It winds in between trees and on to a street with homes.

At the end of the path is a grove of firtrees. The trees are high and close so that they form a tightly woven roof above the path.

It was wonderous to stand in the shade, hearing the roaring accompaniment of bypassing traffic, seeing single strays of sunlight which dared to pierce through the branches. For a moment this place was encased in a magic dome, which would have made it invisible to others standing by. When I walked out of the grove, the sun poured on me, as if I had just walked out of a painting on a wall. I imagined that the grove had shut behind me so that no one knew about the entrance but I.

Let's share this little secret.
