BUILDING ASSIGNMENTS

-NORVEG COAST-CULTURAL CENTRE IN RØRVIK, NORWAY (opened june 16. 2004 by His Majesty the King)

The concept beeing an interpretation of the sails of an old vessel leaning against the symbol of a ship of modern times, thus uniting the past and the present in an architectural context.
Norveg presents the Norwegian coastculture. It consists of an exhibition area of 500 m2 in addition to foyer, café/restaurant, a souvenir shop and a multimedia auditorium for 170 persons, as well as the administration. The office has designed both the building and the exhibition.
Norveg was nominated to the European Union Prize of Contemporary Architecture-
Mies van der Rohe 2005, as well as "The Building of the Century in Trøndelag" Norway,and
awarded the "Prize of Building-Culture" in Vikna Municipality march 23.

-HARDANGERVIDDA NATIONALPARK CENTRE, NORWAY in Tinn Municipality opned 2000
The Nationalpark Centre is a Cultural Centre with exhibition and multimedia show.
The Centre consists of functions as a galley, restaurant, conferencerooms, the childrens room
as well as a souvenirshop and administration.
The Centre was awarded the "Prize of Building Tradition" in Tinn Municipality in 2001

-NORSK FJORDCENTRE IN GEIRANGER, NORWAY
Invited competition in collaboration with
Kristin Jarmund Architects AS. Opned june 14. 2002 by Her Majesty the Queen.
The exhibition presents the cultural heritage in the Norwegian Fjords.
The Centre consists of an exhibition area, and area for temporary exhibitions as well as touris shop, multimedia auditorium and the administration. The office designed the exhibition as well.

-THE SISTERSHIP IN RØRVIK, NORWAY An office-building, N-Trøndelag (opened in august 26.2003)
The 3000 m2 building is embedded beside Norveg, acting as a “sistership”. The building was awarded the "Prize of Building Tradition" in Vikna Municipality for 2003.

-AMTSBOKASAFNID Á AKUREYRI, ICELAND (Library extension)
Opened in march 2004. An addition to one of the finest examples of Modernism in Iceland from the 60´s. The Library was awarded the "VVS-Prize" in 2004.

The Library was awarded the "Prize of Culture for Architecture" in 21. of april 2005

A Stone Carving Centre at Bøla, N-Trøndelag, Norway . The building is only 500 m2 and is meant to contain a multimediaexhibion, as well as a souvenir-shop and a café The office will deligate in the making of the exhibition.

A Cultural and Adminstrative Centre for the South-Sami Community that will contain exhibition spaces, administration,café, souvenir-shop and handicraft workshops.

-THE ICELANDIC CONCERTHOUSE ("on ice")
The 1. Prize in the Nordic Competition became the fundaments for the foundation of the office in 1987
After the process of Building Permit, the process temporarily stopped. In 1992 the office was asked to adapt the building to a site at Reykjavik Harbour and the project was presentet to the authorities 25.10.1992 as 8 different proposals for adaption to the harbour area.

An exhibition about Henrik Ibsen as a person, poet and a playwriter. The work also includes the Museum itself with the total renovation of the exhibition-localities with entrance, reception and exhibition spaces.

The exhibition is 1200 m2 arranged in chronological order, based on the use of building and requisita environment.

-EXHIBITION IN NORVEG, RØRVIK nord-Trøndelag (Opened june 16th. 2004)
The exhibition presents the coast-culture in Norway. The exhibition is partly arranged in chronological order, based on the use of building- and requisita environment. The exhibition is divided into a historical part and a part evaluating the presence and future of fisheries baded on exciting technological effects. The exhibition includes an interactive roleplay intended for education of students, made by Hybris Film Vertigo as.

-AN EXHIBITION IN NORSK FJORDCENTRE, GEIRANGER (Opened in june 2002)
The exhibition presents the Fjord-culture and the spesific natural settings along the Norwegian Fjords. The exhibition is partly based on reconstructed building-environment both as exterior as well as interior, that make the exhibition come alive. Experiences as f.ex.avalanche occurs as a part of the exhibition. The Centre holds space for temporary exhibitions as well.

-AN EXHIBITION AT GEYSIR, Iceland opened in 2000
The exhibition is tot. appr. 300 m2 presents the Icelandic nature with special focus on Geysir, geothermal energy, avalanches, earthquakes and waterfalls.

-NORWEGIAN OLYMPIC MUSEUM in Håkonshall Olympic Stadium in Lillehammer. Opened nov.27th.´97.
The exhibition is tot. 1700 m2 divided in 2 departments the historical part and the games in Lillehammer ´94.

-THE PRØYSEN EXHIBITION (An exhibition in Prøysenhuset at Rudshøgda, Norway, opened nov. 28th.´97)
An exhibition about the folklore artist Alf Prøysens life, songs and achievements.

-”MED KORS OG SVERD GJENNOM 1000 ÅR” (With Cross and Swords through 1000 years) in
TRONDARNES HISTORICAL CENTRE, in Harstad, Norway
A historical exhibition based on Harstad and northern Norway especially focusing on the church-history from middle-ages.

-NORSK BERGVERKSMUSEUM (Norwegian Museum of Mining Industry) (Opened in june 2000) An exhibition telling the history of Kongsberg Veaponry Factory. The exhibition is partly based on reconstructed building-environment as well as modern technology.

-OLAV DUUN
(Building and rehabilitation of the home of Poet Olav Duun)

-AN EXHIBITION IN JOSTEDALSBREEN NATIONALPARK-CENTRE
(Opened in june ´93)
The exhibition is 400 m2 dealing with several aspects of Jostedalsbreen National-Park as the botanics,
animals, glaciologi and the culture.

-"TELE-TECHNOLOGY OF THE FUTRE" IN TELEMUSEET at Frysja (stage 2). Opened in march´98.
The exhibition is based on multimedia-technology with a spectacular vision of the telecommunication of the future.

-“HELLIGE HJUL” (Wholy Weels) for Norsk Form. Opened in sept. ´94
A low-budget exhibition based on the car in everyday society as "hooligan" and "best friend" a kind of an ethical polemic discussion.

-TYSSEDALSVASSDRAGET
- STORY OF ENERGY AND THE CONDITIONS IN THAT PARTICULAR SOCIETY. The project is based on ideas of an ecological Museum and will find place in several buildings and places in Tyssedal and Odda at the west-coast of Norway.



INTERIORS

-THE EMBASSY OF ICELAND IN WASHINGTON Opened in ´95
The interior is based on a literal interpretation of the Northern Light, the Ocean and the Ice to pinpoint the major Icelandic characteristic phenomenons. The main corridor walls are chemically pretreated brass that undulates as the northern lights.
The interior was nominated to the DV´s Prize of Culture in 1996.

-EXPO ARTE JEWELRY GALLERY at Drammensveien, Oslo, opened in 1995. Former project, replaced in 2005.
The interior was based on steel and glass and acted as an interpretation of the jewelry. The Gallery was represented in the NRK-TV programme «I sikte» about Architecture in Norway.

-WEIDEMANN ROOM IN STEINKJER TOWN HALL
A design of a Glass-space in the Town Halls Atrium as well as the Exhibition of 18 glassworks by the famous Norwegian artist Jakob Weidemann made for the Church of Steinkjer
(opened in may 2000 and is used as a room for representation)

-TELEMUSEET i NTM (Museum for the Telephone-Company) at Frysja. Opened in feb. ´94. and expansion made in feb´98. Interior design as well as the exhibition.

PLANNING ASSIGNMENTS

-INDUSTRIAL AREA IN HELGUVIK, REYKJANESBÆR IN ICELAND (under construction)
A vast industrial area based on new ideas of seggragating the visitors traffic from the transport traffic.
An area with good organization based on clear orientation with simple system of traffic. The area is adjacent to the sea, making it unique as industrial area with all facilities and efficient communications.

-CITYPLANNING FOR RØRVIK TOGETHER WITH AN ESTHETIC GUIDE FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT
An assignment in 1998. The Project made the basis for reevaluation of the Plan of Regulation and leading to the assignment for the "Esthetic Guide for Rørvik".
