Olof I. Davidsdottir - In creative mode

A liturgical stole in the making.
A stole is a long strip, laid on the shoulders, both ends hanging on front of body.
Worn by ordained ministers during church ceremonies.
Sample photo The minister reading is Dalla Thordardottir.

Fabric cut in stips, sewn and cut across again in stips.
Strips sewn in a long, long, long strip, then cut in pieces.
A closer look at the pieces.
A repetition of the first photo, but rides along for the fun of it!
Stips sewn on base fabric to avoid distortion.
One piece sewn at a time, seam opened and pressed.
Both sides of stole
What's it with the knife? I took torn black and red fabric strips to the kitchen and picked the roughest bread knife I found, and cut the fabric across with the knife.
I said to my husband: "This thing is asking for an accident."
The dear man said: "Wouldn't you rather use scissors?
A close up of an appliqued piece.
