April 12th

I got a very nice visit the other day. Bev Ricker and her family, from North Dakota stopped over here in Iceland on their way from Europe. It was really nice meeting her again. We met at the Paradise Stitching Retreat in Fargo last month. She is the Dr. Bev Ricker that helped Susan Mikesell when she desperately needed, while in Fargo. Bev brought a beautiful piece for the tapestry! Have a look on the piece page nr. 221 -

The photo is of Rags and Bev at a Cafe in Reykjavík.

We have also received beautiful needlework pieces from Pakistan!!
Have a look at the piece page 221-
Friendship has ways to connect all the people of earth. It goes through a friend of a friend of a friend and we find out we really are all connected in friendship.

June 2006

I just added the latest pieces to our website on the piece page. Two beautiful pieces from New Zealand. They are both the same pattern but use different stitches and colours, very symbolic. There are also new pieces that arrived all the way from Pakistan. There we have their traditional shisha mirror stitching and a prayer tapestry in the size 4 x 6" fit for our tapestry of friendship.
Please have a look at all the new pieces at the piece pages If you click on each photo or numbers, you open up to the inner piece pages. And when there you can click on each photo to see a larger image and often more text.

We now have 239 pieces! Feel free to participate, we are an ongoing project and everybody who wants to be a friend, is welcome.

July 2006

Dear friends all over the planet. I do hope you are having a good time this summer or winter, depending on where you live. :-) The weather is strange it seems, either way too warm or too cold or, too rainy or too dry. I hope and pray you are all safe.

Today I added nine more beautiful friendship pieces to the tapestry online! They were made by ladies who belong to the Yorkshire Countrywomen´s Association in England.  We now have 248 pieces in all in the Friendship Tapestry. Have a look at the piece pages!

My family and I, along with the Friendship Tapestry, are moving to a new location. I will add the new adress in a few days. It is a very exciting move for us, since we are moving to my childhood home! It is a good place and will give us all good space for a growing family and for our artwork. More about all this later. :-)

September 2006

It is autumn here in Iceland now. The trees are changing colors and it is cooler in the evenings. The beautiful autumn colors give endless inspiration for the stitching of the winter!

And this winter has big promises for us.
We moved into a new house, my family and I. It is the house I was raised in and lived for my first 20 years. Our daughter is expecting her first child, and our first grandchild!, any day now. We are really excited as you all can imagine. They live in an apartment downstairs in our new home. It truly is a big family house. Among many other good things about this house, is that I have a big new studio to work on my stitching/painting art and of course The Friendship Tapestry!

Enjoy the autumn colors, those of you that have them. And enjoy the spring, those of you that live in the southern hemisphere. There is always something in nature to enjoy, isn´t there?!     ;-)

October 2006

Our darling little princess was born on Sept. 29th. She is well and wonderful! What a precious gift she is to us all. I am a grandmother now: I am an amma!
I have to share some photos with you.

The little family; Sirrý Margrét mama, Smári papa and darling angel Embla Sól.

Embla Sól is wearing a homeknitted wool sweater from my dear friend Junita, all the way from Australia.

Here are mother and daughter smiling to each other. Isn´t life just perfect on moments like these.
Embla Sól truly lights up the life around her.

Thank you dear friends for your interest, your letters and your warmth.  I feel truly blessed knowing you all.

More later, I am busy watching for more smiles.....   that´s a grandmothers job, isn´t it?  ;-)

October 2006

It is late autumn, almost winter here in Iceland. These days are cold but beautiful.
And during these cold days we got a very nice visit from Norway. It was Anne-Lise, who was an exchange student staying in Roz and Harolds home in Fargo, when we were there displaying the Friendship Tapestry, last spring. Anne-Lise was here travelling with her 50 schoolmates and teachers. Here they are four of them at the top of the Restaurant Perlan in Reykjavík.

It was so good to see Anne-Lise again. Thank you for coming!

November 2006

I had a wonderful visit from a new friend in Australia: Mary Kershaw. She made an old dream come true, by coming to Iceland. Mary and her two daughters made each a piece for the Friendship Tapestry and she brought those three beautiful pieces with her. (see the pieces)

We spent a wonderful afternoon together and it really felt as we have known each other for years.

Here we are in my studio, which I call "Ravens Nest". Of course we rolled out the tapestry to have a look.
Thank you for coming Mary, I look forward to seeing you again, one day. Either here in Iceland or if I can make my dream come true, we will meet in Australia before too long.

January 2007

Happy new year!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! My family and I celebrated traditional Christmas and had a very warm and loving season.
Now we are all beginning a new year with new promises and new hopes.
I send you all blessings and prayers for a blessed and friendlier new year!
