Two reasons for this project:
1) For historical interest.
&
2) For the comparison of different instructional methods and variance in the ideologies of aesthetics.

The Life and Works of Jean L�on G�r�me reflects an aspect in the
intellectual atmosphere of the "neo-grec" / "orientalist" painter and his devout adherents, and thus displays
a style and tone that may be construed as being haughty, racist, and colonial by the standards of our "modern" time .
In spite of this or perhaps even because of it the book is a worthwhile resource
in better understanding and reconstructing the artist's time era.
